Quiz either this Thursday or friday (Oct 31 or Nov 1) over solving and writing equations. All content covered in topic 8 are fair game for the quiz.

Unit 1 Test this Friday

We have our first major test upcoming this Friday.  The test will cover homework from 4.1 to 4.7 and 5.1 to 5.6.  Old quizzes are great for studying and we will have a study guide that we will begin working on tomorrow (Tuesday).

Quiz tomorrow over digit lessons 4.1-4.3.  Know how to add rational numbers and identify properties like commutative, associative, inverse, and identity.

Great First Week

As I sit back and reflect upon the first week of class there are a couple of things that really stand out to me.  Number one is that I have a great group of students in class.  We did an activity on Thursday where I asked them to work in groups to find the area of Kentucky.  Every class period had great enthusiasm.  Students were helpful, accepting, and encouraging toward one another in their groups.  They all achieved a common goal which was to find our state's area in square miles.  I had one group that was within 300 square miles of being exactly right!!!
The second thing I noticed was that we are ready to start our math content.  We took care of a lot of housekeeping type things this week.  Starting on Monday we need our math journals put together and we can start our content full blast.  Homework is set up and ready to begin online for our digits users.  So excited about another year with great kids!

Really enjoyed meeting all my students and parents tonight at orientation.  I am looking forward to working with them this year.

Topic 8 Homework and Test

We will be wrapping up Topic 8 over equations this week.  Homework 8.3 and 8.4 have been posted online for you to complete and are due next monday February 11th.  There will be a test this upcoming Friday covering lessons 8.1 through 8.4.

I just posted the HW assignment for this week. Due next Monday the 14th of January are lessons 7.1 and 7.2. They can be found in your "to do" folder at this point. Also here is a list of the vocab for this week which we will have a quiz over on Friday the 11th:
